Nomex®

Nomex® is a synthetic aromatic polyamide polymer generally known as an aramid.
The paper is produced from two forms of the aramid polymer:
small fibrous binder particles
-fibrids
-mixed with short fibres
- floc. The two components are comboned in a water based slurry from which continuous sheet structure is produced on a fourdrinier paper making machine.

Subsequent densification and internal bonding is achieved by means of high temperature calendering. The resulting paper is mechanically strong, flexibJe and has good electrical properties, which are maintained at high temperatures. Nomex® is officially classified as a 220°C insuating material by the Underwriters Laboratories -file E34739(R) -and recognised
by the principal institutes of the world.

Types, dimensions and packing
Nomex® T 410: is the originai form and it is made up of a calendered paper available in different thicknesses.
Nome® T 411: is an uncalendered paper, so with lower electrical and mechanical properties when compared to T 410 , but with a slight permeability to resins and varnishes.
Nomex® T414:is similar to T410, but is calendered under different conditions which produce a strong, more flexible and conformable sheet.
Nomex® T 418: also called Nomex Mica is produced by adding 50% mica platelets to the floc and fibrids. T 418 is a calendered product with high inherent dielectric strength and can also be impregnated with varnishes if required.
Nomex® T992: is a low-density pressboard produced in 2 thicknesses (1,6 and 3,2 mm).
Nomex® T993: is a medium-density pressboard produced in 6 thicknesses (1,0 to 4,0 mm).
Nomex® T994: is a high density pressboard available in 12 thicknesses (1,0 to 9,6 mm).

Nomex® paper
Nomex® papers are supplied in standard rolls in widths; the tolerance is +/- 4 mm for width 914 mm and +/- 7 mm for width 965 mm.
Different widths can be supplied upon request, starting from a minimum width of 6 mm with increments of 0,1 mm.
The cutting tolerance is +/- 0,2 mm.
Standard inside diameter is 76 mm and outside 292 mm.
Upon request, for some types of Nomex®, rolls with superior outside diameter and length can be supplied and widths up to 1828 mm.
